New M6 junction 19 roundabout opens to drivers

The new M6 Junction 19 road bridge and roundabout has opened for drivers, easing traffic flow at the intersection.

The roundabout allows traffic leaving the M6 northbound at J19 onto the A556 towards Manchester, and from the southbound side to the A556 towards Northwich.

New signals switched on on Tuesday 23 November which are designed to learn from and adapt to the flow of traffic. National Highways says “it may take a few days for the new system to reach its optimum configuration so please bear with us as some queues are likely during this time.”

Roadworks will continue into next month to remove the old signals.
