Nordis Signs, part of Kier Highways, is celebrating one of its busiest years, following a number of new contract wins.

In March, Nordis signed a major three-year public sector contract with Nottinghamshire County Council to supply permanent signs to Via East Midlands who deliver highway services across the county, valued at £360k. It has also started offering a new gantry sign service, in which the team has recently completed its first order for Crown Highways M69 project. In addition, Nordis Signs also celebrated achieving over £1m in social value, through the wider benefits the company brings with local employment and inclusion.

Since its inception in 1972, the social enterprise has been producing and supplying signage and accessories to the private sector, local authorities and the highways industry.

Set up as a government-registered supported business, Nordis has always offered meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities. With a large proportion of its workforce having a disability or a health condition, Nordis Signs is a registered Supported Business and is a Leader in Disability.

To continue and adapt to new ways of working, Nordis took delivery of a new commercial printer allowing the business to print up to 20sqm an hour, compared with the old machine which did 6sqm. This helps the team to deliver bigger contracts and larger volumes of non-highways signage, such as the commercial signage recently supplied to Castlepoint Shopping Centre in Bournemouth.
