Norfolk set for 11 weeks of A11 disruption

National Highways are to carry out repairs on a section of the concrete surface on the A11 between Thickthorn Interchange and Tuttles Lane Interchange in south Norfolk.

Work will start on Tuesday 27 August and will last approximately 11 weeks between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only, weather permitting.

The A11 between Thickthorn Interchange and Tuttles Lane Interchange will be closed in both directions, and divert traffic as follows:

  • Southbound Traffic will exit the A11 at Thickthorn Interchange and turn left onto the Norwich Southern Bypass (A47). At Ipswich Road Interchange, turn right onto Ipswich Road (A140) and continue following towards Scole. Turn right onto Diss Road (A1066) and follow to Thetford. At Munford Road roundabout, turn left to rejoin the A11 southbound.

Northbound Traffic will follow the same diversion as above but in reverse.

Says National Highways: “Around half of the old-style concrete roads will either have repairs or will be replaced over a five-year period. We’ll be using innovative techniques and new technology to provide a modern road that will last for decades to come, and which is easier and quicker for us to repair in future.”
