The Confederation of Passenger Transport has announced that Paul Lynch, Managing Director of Stagecoach London, will continue as CPT’s President until the end of January 2026, with a one-year extension to his current term.
CPT has also announced that Duncan Aspinall, Director of Holmeswood Coaches Ltd, has been appointed as CPT Vice-President for 2025. Duncan, who was the previous chair of the CPT Coach Commission, will then take on the role of CPT President for 2026.
Commenting on the announcements, CPT Chief Executive Graham Vidler said: “I’m extremely pleased that Paul has agreed to do a further year as CPT President, and to welcome Duncan into his new position. Their appointments ensure strong, experienced leadership as we tackle the challenges ahead, and it is good news for our membership to have two such well-regarded figures from bus and coach respectively taking these positions up. Their insights will be invaluable in shaping a future where our industry remains both resilient and forward-thinking.”
Paul Lynch has a wealth of experience in the transport sector, starting his career with Transport for London in 1984. Since joining Stagecoach in 1994, he has held a number of Director roles including as Operations Director for Swebus in Sweden, MD roles in Yorkshire and the East Midlands, as well as Regional Director positions for Wales and the North of England.
Commenting on extending his tenure as CPT President, Paul Lynch said: “I am honoured to be continuing as CPT President for 2025, representing and advancing our sector through a time of transformation and opportunity. I’m glad to welcome somebody of Duncan’s experience on board, and the two of us will continue helping members to get the most out of their membership.”
Duncan Aspinall is a Director of Holmeswood Coaches Ltd, a family company that operates over 100 coaches and buses from five depots in the North West of England. The company has been involved with CPT and its predecessors since they began with both Duncan and his father before him being Chair of the North Western region on a number of occasions. He has recently stepped down as Chair of the Coach Commission and is a member of the CPT Board. With their mixed fleet, Holmeswood undertake a complete mix of work from School and Colleges to tours in the UK and Europe.
