After last year’s highly successful JCT Traffic Signals Symposium in Nottingham reintroduced the industry to in-person conferences, this year’s event is going to be bigger than ever.
A record 28 exhibitors are already committed to the two-day meeting on 14 and 15 September, meaning the organisers have already had to take extra space within the venue to cope.
Furthermore, applications to present a technical paper are significantly ahead of last year. If every one already proposed were to be accepted, all but three of the slots will already be filled.
The JCT Traffic Signals Symposium, now in its 27th year, is a mix of academic and technical papers with a focus on knowledge sharing. Sales presentations are not permitted, meaning that thought leadership is key to the conference sessions. The exhibition shows off the best in new technology in traffic signals and wider traffic management, while two networking evenings bring important socialising opportunities for the industry to chat in a relaxed setting too.
“Last year was actually quite emotional, because the support and enthusiasm for the industry was overwhelming after 18 months of Covid restrictions,” commented event organiser, JCT Director John Nightingale (pictured). “We’re already so far ahead of any other year when it comes to engagement, I am sure that delegates who’re now able to sign up to join us will be blown away with the quality of the papers and exhibition this year.”
Paper subjects include 5G communications, throughabout design, connected vehicles, decarbonisation, active travel, air quality management using artificial intelligence and radar detection technology.
The Symposium is preceded by the MOVA User Group, followed by an evening networking event, on 13 September. The whole event takes place at Nottingham Trent University.
