Q-Free have released the latest module for the company’s comprehensive advanced traffic management system, Kinetic® Mobility. The new module, Kinetic Travel Time, provides traffic managers with highly accurate corridor travel times that can be used for a wide variety of applications, including congestion management and historical speed analysis. Equally vital, the module pairs with the platform’s Kinetic Signs module to provide drivers with the most up-to-date travel times while traveling on the roadway, or through 511 systems, so motorists can make the best decisions while planning their daily commutes. Today’s announcement continues Q-Free’s exciting series of product releases highlighting its Summer of Kinetic campaign.
Q-Free’s Kinetic Mobility is the first scalable ATMS platform that integrates all ITS devices into a single decision-making dashboard across freeways and arterials, eliminating the need for patchwork solutions. Fully customizable, it offers a selection of mix-and-match modules, giving agencies the flexibility to create the perfect system tailored to their specific needs.
The new Kinetic Travel Time module uses Q-Free’s unique, proprietary travel time engine that can integrate data streams from any source including DOTs, roadside detection, vehicle data, data vendors such as INRIX, etc. Integrated data is used to generate highly accurate corridor journey times that can then be communicated to the public, or to internal teams through other Kinetic Mobility modules. Traffic managers can set minimum and maximum travel time thresholds based on historic travel times to highlight anomalies along any route. For example, when used with Kinetic Events, operators can receive alerts to notify them of slower than usual speeds that could be the result of a crash, unplanned maintenance, or object in the roadway, which may require immediate action. Like all modules within Kinetic Mobility, Kinetic Travel Time was designed with expansion and scaling in mind. It is the ideal solution for either small agencies just beginning on their path to smart mobility, or large regional or statewide departments of transportation with mature ITS networks.
“Kinetic Travel Time is a simple-to-use, intuitive software that elevates traffic manager’s roadway awareness, and will serve as an essential component of any agency’s event detection system,” said Mark Talbot, CEO of Q-Free. “It’s a key part of our Kinetic Mobility ecosystem, seamlessly integrating with other modules and ITS devices into our unified decision-making dashboard, that eliminates the cobbled together ATMS systems of the past.”
Kinetic Travel Time along with the entire Kinetic Mobility suite will be on display and available for demos at the upcoming Joint ITE International and Mid-Colonial District Annual Meeting and Exhibition, occurring July 21-24, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This summer, Q-Free’s signature Kinetic Mobility platform is hitting its stride with an awareness series of planned releases, instructional webinars, and deployments all under the headline, the “Summer of Kinetic.” Among recent successes is the deployment of Kinetic Mobility as the core ATMS for the CV Sync project in California’s Coachella Valley, the largest and arguably most-watched smart region project in the United States.
“We are thrilled to share the Summer of Kinetic with our customers, partners and the industry as a whole,” said Talbot. “As mobility leaders, our goal is to elevate transportation around the globe and as advocates for open APIs, MIBs, and standards, sharing the Kinetic Mobility story is part of that commitment.”
