A scheme to reconstruct a roundabout in Burton has been completed two days ahead of schedule, thanks to the hard work of highways crews.
Staffordshire County Council’s highways team have spent the last two weeks resurfacing the A444 Stanton Road roundabout and its approaches, along with sections of Violet Way.
The project also included drain clearance, ironwork replacements, and footpath repairs where necessary.
This reflects a new geographic approach the county council is adopting for highways maintenance – tackling multiple issues in one go to keep overall costs down and cut the number of disruptive return visits needed to a single area.
The £500,000 scheme was completed on Wednesday 20 August, with all temporary traffic lights, signs and cones now removed from site.
Peter Mason, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways, said:
“Investing in our highways is important to keep Staffordshire on the move and I’m very pleased to see another highways improvement scheme completed in Burton. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our crews, the project was completed ahead of schedule, bringing long-term benefits to residents and road users even sooner.
“By planning the works during the school holidays and carrying them out overnight, we’ve been able to minimise disruption in the area. I’d like to thank everyone for their patience while these essential improvements were carried out.”
