Road Safety GB Academy has today launched two new professional Awards designed to support its members and other professionals working in road safety, sustainable travel and active travel.

The Awards aim to strengthen professional standards across the sector by giving practitioners a clear pathway to develop and demonstrate their knowledge and skills, while giving employers a recognised benchmark for the profession.

The new Awards provide a structured route through the Academy’s training and professional development programmes.

The Awards bring together learning across key areas of professional practice, including the Safe System, behaviour change, evaluation, statistics, impairment, learning and intervention development.

The Certificate provides a broad foundation for those involved in delivering road safety and sustainable travel interventions, while the Diploma is aimed at more experienced practitioners involved in developing, managing and evaluating interventions, projects and programmes.

Rhian Hughes, Director of RSGB Academy said:

“The Awards have been developed to support practitioners in applying evidence-based approaches. We recognise the importance of investing in people and supporting the profession to develop the knowledge and skills needed to make a difference.

“The roll out provides a structured learning route for practitioner’s development, supports employers with consistent professional standards, and contributes to the delivery of national and local road safety objectives under a Safe System.”
