Winter service solutions company Safecote, has launched a new Making Winter Cycling Safer campaign in conjunction with Team GB kit manufacturer KALAS Sportswear.
Working with Kalas and a number of UK cycling groups/forums, the company aims to promote the benefits of ensuring that cycleways are fit and open for daily use during the winter season
Safecote will be providing advice and guidance to councils up and down the country on how we can help them achieve this, in addition to promoting best practice guidance as identified by the UK National Winter Service Research Group (NWSRG)
Speaking about the campaign, Mark Dutton, Managing Director of Safecote said: “As a keen cyclist who regularly commutes to the office on a bicycle, I am delighted to be involved in this campaign. In conjunction with our partner KALAS, a leading manufacturer of top-end cycling kit for several pro teams, and of course Team GB, we hope to help councils around the country keep their expanding network of cycleways free of ice & snow in winter time.
“We aim to do this through a series of campaigns using national cycling groups and websites promoting the benefits of enabling the active travel revolution to be accessible 24/7, 365 days a year. Clearly financing such a step change will be challenging, but the potential impact of not delivering on this will be more costly to the UK economy as more and more people embrace the governments drive to leave their cars behind and get on their bikes. We very much look forward to assisting in that transition,” he added.
