Safer Highways Mental Health report goes digital

This year’s Safer Highways Mental Health Report Launch is set to go digital to alleviate fears of second wave of Covid-19.

The organisation, known for its work on health, safety and wellbeing in the sector, said: “In what has been an incredibly challenging year for the industry as a whole and having taken into account the feelings of our membership Safer Highways have reluctantly taken the decision to suspend any fate to face events for the rest of 2020.”

This means that the SH Awards will now take place on 21st April 2021 at the East of England Showground as part of the rearranged SHL!ve event.

Its other event scheduled to take place in 2020 was the Thriving at Work report into the state of workplace mental health provision. However, rather than cancelling the event Safer Highways has decided to take a rather more novel route, as Safer Highways Business Director, Rachel Brent explains:

“The Thriving at Work survey report launch is one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year,” she said.

“In any normal year the event would take place at The House of Lords and be hosted by Lord Dennis Stevenson, one of our biggest supporters.

“However these are unprecedented times and as such we, as an industry collective are having to think outside of the box when it comes to how we continue to engage with our audience.

“We have therefore decided that rather than stage yet another webinar, which in truth would have been the easy option, we have instead decided to ‘live stream’ the event from a television studio, something which is another first for the sector.”

As a result of this the event will now take place on 2nd December 2020 at 1pm and be broadcast live via the internet from the Kennington Studios in London.

Hosted by Karl Simons, the event will feature a number of high profile guests and a few surprises before its usual finale, the unveiling of the 2020 Thriving at work Survey Results.

Live streamed across Instagram, Facebook Live and YouTube as well as via both the SHP and Safer Highways Websites the event will really bring push forward with what is an important via the medium of modern technology.

Speaking about the innovative technique, Karl Simons, host of the ‘Show’ said: “New and innovative have become watchwords of what Safer Highways has always strived to achieve.

“We were the first group to effectively benchmark an industry against the governments standards for workplace provision around mental health and now because of circumstances we, again, find a solution to how we best disseminate the information in these strange times.

“Credit for this has to go to our own team and their can do attitude but also to our membership and broader audience for embracing the idea of trying something different.”

The event, as with all live webcasts, will not require those who simply wish to watch to register, however for those who wish to participate in the debate and ask questions to our a list panel of guests we ask that you please do register so that we may control the flow of questioning.
