The specialist eCall consultancy and software company VESOS Solutions, in collaboration with the Department for Transport in the UK, is leading a workshop later this month to support the X_HeERO project focussing on the development of the Next Generation emergency call (eCall) system.
This workshop, with the European Emergency Number Association (EENA) who are X_HeERO members, aims to help in shaping the future of eCall emergency response across Europe.
“Although the UK is no longer formally involved in European-funded projects, the evolution of eCall remains a critical component of both European and UK Road Safety Strategies,” explains VESOS Director Andy Rooke. “The next generation of eCall will introduce advanced technologies, including new sensor capabilities, to enhance communication between vehicles, emergency responders, and road network authorities.”
To ensure that this evolution reflects the needs and priorities of European Road Authorities and Traffic Management Centres, EENA will host a dedicated online workshop to gather insights and perspectives.
Workshop Details:
• Date: Monday, 20 October 2025
• Time: 14:30 CET / 13:30 BST
• Duration: Approximately 1 hour
• Format: Online via Zoom (link to be provided closer to the date)
“The participation of industry experts is vital to help define how Road Authorities and Traffic Management Centres across Europe can maximise the benefits of eCall alerts, improve incident response, and integrate these technologies into existing infrastructure,” Mr Rooke concludes.
