Organisers of this year’s JCT Traffic Signals Symposium in Nottingham say the industry is showing enthusiasm to get back to in-person events, with sales of exhibitor space greater than at the same point two years ago.

The event takes place on 14 and 15 September with a mix of technical papers, extensive networking and social events as well as the exhibition which already has 18 companies signed up.

“We wondered if there would be a reluctance to get back to a live event, but not a bit of it,” commented event organiser, JCT Director John Nightingale.  “The enthusiasm by which the industry has embraced this year’s Symposium shows they, like me, are keen to get back to seeing people in the flesh rather than just on a laptop screen.”

A large number of speakers have also applied to take part and among the approved papers so far are ones about cycle and pedestrian safety, bus priority, AI for traffic signals and GLOSA.  Speakers come from a range of private companies as well as the Department for Transport and TfL.

JCT are promising a booking guarantee which means exhibitors and delegates know that if for any reason the event cannot take place, they will get a full refund.

“The last year has shown that you can adequately share knowledge online, as our virtual Symposium last year showed,” concluded John Nightingale.  “But what you cannot replicate is the networking and exhibition space, which only really works in the physical world.  After nearly 18 months of not seeing people, we’re delighted to be hosting this physical event and getting back to what we do best, sharing knowledge in the sessions, seeing the latest innovations in the exhibition and meeting up with people – and having a lot of fun in the process.”

The MOVA User Group will take place on 14 September.  The whole event takes place at Nottingham Trent University.
