SRL Traffic Systems has won a top award from The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) for demonstrating consistently high health and safety standards across the business.
The manufacturer and supplier of portable and temporary ITS equipment and integrated systems to the traffic management, construction, events and utilities sectors has achieved a silver award for Occupational Health & Safety. The world-recognised award acknowledges the company’s impressive overall health and safety performance, policies and procedures.
It is the first time that SRL has entered the awards, which are the UK’s longest-running health and safety industry awards.
RoSPA is a British charity that works to save lives and prevent life-changing injuries occurring because of accidents and is a world-leader in health and safety practice. Its scheme is one of the most prestigious and recognised in the world, with the awards attracting nearly 2000 entries each year.
Julia Small, RoSPA’s achievements director, said: “The RoSPA awards scheme is one of the most sought-after achievement awards for health and safety worldwide. RoSPA is very proud of the achievements of its entrants. With this award, we recognise the best of the best – those organisations that have gone the extra mile, raising the bar for the delivery of safety in the workplace.”
Richard Tredwin, chief executive officer at SRL Traffic Systems (pictured), added: ‘We are thrilled to have received the RoSPA silver award in our first year of entry. We place significant emphasis on the health, safety, and well-being of our customers and workforce. To receive this award clearly demonstrates our commitment to continuous improvement across all facets of ESH&Q and we set this significant achievement against the backdrop of the challenges brought by the pandemic over the last 12 months.”
At the outset of the pandemic, SRL immediately established plans to safeguard employee and customer health and well-being across its network of 30 depots, working tirelessly to provide normal levels of service. This early adoption of the covid-response strategies helped to offset additional pressure on operations later on.
Mark Gordon, ESH&Q manager at SRL, said: “Throughout the pandemic, we learnt a great deal about the resilience and determination of our employees. We are incredibly fortunate to have an engaged workforce, robust infrastructure and adaptable systems, which will undoubtedly stand us in good stead as we move forward. We’re very proud to win this prestigious silver award, which certainly marks the achievement and progress we’ve made.” A virtual awards ceremony will take place on 9 September to honour all the award winners.
