Taiwan has beaten Brisbane in Australia to be the host of the 2029 ITS World Congress when it is Asia Pacific’s turn to host the global event.
Taiwan has failed in bids to host several times, but was chosen in a vote of ITS Asia Pacific members on Sunday 15 September ahead of this year’s ITS World Congress this week.
Australia had hoped to host the event for the first time since the widely-acclaimed Melbourne Congress 2016. It will not be bidding for the 2032 Congress because the city hosts the Olympics that year.
The next Asia-Pacific-hosted Congress will be in South Korea in 2026.
