The A470 in mid Wales between Talerddig and Dolfach will be completely closed from31 October till 20 December to provide a permanent solution following an emergency closure in October 2023, when a retaining wall which supported the road partially collapsed.
Traffic Wales says it will improve the resilience of the A470 and ensure a similar emergency closure, and the disruption that brings, is less likely to happen.
The works to repair the retaining wall above the adjacent Afon Laen will mean the stretch of road will be closed throughout this period, however roads engineers are working to reduce the duration of the work as far as possible.
Following this closure period, two-way traffic lights will be reinstalled at the site to complete construction activities. All traffic management will be removed from the site by 14 February 2025.
The work is taking place during a quieter period on the road, including the half term holiday.
