TRL, the Transport Research Laboratory has published a reflection on its work around the world in 2024, commenting that “it helps to take a different perspective in order to appreciate it”.
The post refers to work with the European Space Agency, road safety initiatives in Africa and Asia, more work in Asia-Pacific and guidance.
It also mentions behind the scenes work to align nations as they progressively strive to make their transportation and mobility systems cleaner, safer and more accessible.
In the UK, the organisation points to research and support for suicide prevention on road and rail networks, how to safely connect automated vehicles to infrastructure using shared spectrum, and how to legalise the use of electric scooters on public roads. It’s also helped encourage greater adoption of driverless construction machines, and been around the country interviewing female bus drivers.
