TTF Live demonstrates “off the shelf” transport technology

This year’s Department for Transport-led Transport Technology Forum will feature a series of real-world demonstrations of transport technology that are available here-and-now to local authorities.

The TTF Conference, from 16-18 March, is taking place for the third successive year at the Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire, but this year featuring technology actually working on nearby roads.

Previously, TTF connected vehicle demonstrations have taken place in dedicated days at the UTAC Proving Ground in Millbrook, Bedfordshire.  However, by using the extensive road network around the conference hotel, many more industry professionals will have the opportunity to see for themselves the latest technology.

“After years of showing people what is in the pipeline, now we are actually showing outcomes from systems and services available to buy today that will make their networks, safer, greener or more efficient,” explained TTF Connected Services Working Group Chair Andy Graham.  “Thanks to the co-operation of the hotel and Leicestershire County  Council, we will be able to demonstrate  solutions to issues such as bridge bashing, warning of flooded roads, optimising portable signals, roadworks incursions and ghost number plates, plus more being agreed including a demonstration of the National Parking Platform.

These transport technology applications, put together by White Willow Consulting founder Andy Graham and George Brown from KL Systems, also tie in with government policy, such as the road safety strategy.

“The beauty of TTF Live,” Mr Graham continued, “is that our series of demonstrations complements the conference and exhibition parts of the event – people can hear about how technology makes their jobs easier inside and then see it in the real world just a few paces away.”

TTF Live is sponsored by digital transformation company TPXImpact.  It takes place at the Leonardo Hotel Hinckley Island from 16-18 March, discussing how technology is solving road transport challenges and the government’s priorities and policies and the funding landscape.

Other organisations involved in TTF Live include High Level Round Table Sponsor AECOM and networking sponsor Yunex Traffic, plus exhibitors Clearview Intelligence, Messagemaker Displays, NAL, NIRA Dynamics, Rennicks, Simplifai Systems, SRL Traffic Systems, SWARCO, TagMaster UK, Teledyne FLIR, TRL, VivaCity and Westcotec.

Working with the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG), and thanks to the support of the private sector, the TTF will again offer fully-funded places for local authority representatives from across the UK to attend the Conference.

Bookings are now open. Visit the website to find details of sponsorship and exhibitor packages and the registration form to apply for the local authority fully-funded places which include a delegate pass, hotel accommodation and catering.
