Latest traffic data from a range of local authorities across England continues to show no return towards a morning peak.
The Transport Technology Forum analysis of data for week beginning 17 August suggests morning traffic levels are still well below pre-lockdown volumes, but middle-of-the day traffic is almost back to what it was.
Researchers expect to see a significant change when schools start returning next week, adding that the data that has been gathered since April in this weekly analysis will help authorities understand changes and trends, assisting in managing their networks.
The report also notes that cycling levels fell last week, reinforcing the belief that bicycle use is correlated to weather conditions. It also highlights active travel initiatives, with a new campaign in the West of England and more money earmarked for it in Scotland.
