Uber’s come up with an Artificial Intelligence solution to predict traffic movement with, it says, a high degree of accuracy.

It’s published a paper saying it’s come up with a new way of simplifying the modelling used to predict how vehicles move around by constantly re-evaluating to produce more realistic trajectories each time.

This is very useful in driverless development where vehicles must track others’ movements, with Uber saying motion prediction is one of the critical components of self-driving technology and that its work has been evaluated on a large-scale real-world dataset.
