Valerann is delivering their data fusion platform under the enhancing Motorway Operation Services (eMOS) programme being delivered by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) and Roughan & O’Donovan-AECOM (RODA). The road analytics technology innovators have deployed the Lanternn by Valerann™ (LbV) platform to pilot the benefits of data fusion on parts of the motorway network to enhance road safety and incident detection in Ireland.
One of the main objectives of the deployment, focusing on sections of two key motorways in Ireland, the M1 and M6, is assessment of the potential for using deep Data Fusion of third-party data sources to provide improved situational awareness, to supplement information gathered from fixed Intelligent TransportSystems (ITS).
Through the use of Lanternn by Valerann™ (LbV) to provide additional insight into the occurrence of incidents, Valerann aim to demonstrate the added value of adopting a Data Fusion approach, with a view to providing insights to Control Room Operators in the Motorway Operations Control Centre (MOCC) in Dublin. This would assist in enhancing TII’s situational awareness and understanding of traffic conditions on these motorways, particularly in areas with lower-levelITS and CCTV coverage. The use of LbV aims to provide a holistic, real-time overview of the traffic situation on a single platform, including indicators of elevated incident risk, thereby enhancing decision-making capabilities without replacing the existing systems.
Our commitment to ensuring the safety, resilience and sustainability of the motorway network remains our top priority in this partnership with Valerann.”says Lewis Feely, Director of Roughan & O’Donovan. “This collaboration underscores TII’s dedication to embracing emerging technological solutions to support the operation of Ireland’s motorway network.”
“We are thrilled to collaborate with TII and Roughan & O’Donovan on this initiative. Leveraging our technology, we aim to bring a new dimension of intelligence and efficiency to the motorway network in Ireland. This project is not just about enhancing road safety and incident response, it’s about setting a new standard for ITS enabled proactive road management.” – says Michael Vardi, Valerann’s co-founder and Chief Business Officer.
