Conservative politicians in Wales have spent the weekend touring the country with digital billboards criticising the government’s decision to introduce a blanket 20mph limit in residential areas.
It sent one “ad van” in the north from Wrexham to Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, and another from Swansea to Caldicot in the south.
The party has launched a petition against the limit.
It says in many places, 20mph is appropriate. “Lower speed limits outside schools, and hospitals are necessary,” its words on the petition page reads. “However, concerns have been raised about the impact the blanket approach would have on main roads and the cost to the Welsh economy. This is unworkable, unenforceable, costly, and deeply unpopular.”
