The mayor of the West Midlands, Richard Parker, has announced he is launching the recruitment of two roles to join the region’s Transport Taskforce to improve safety for road users, foster a culture of active travel, and reduce car dependency.
“There is a road safety emergency in our region,” he tweeted, “As Mayor, I’m committed to tackling this issue.”
The Birmingham Live website says the mayor said he will be looking for people, who are already experts in both fields, with different responsibilities and who will work with the new Transport Taskforce being set up, giving them a direct route to the authority’s Board.
The new roles will build on the authority’s Road Safety Strategy.
