Westcotec gives more detail of its Westconnect online management tool

After launching it at Highways UK last week, Norfolk-based road safety technology firm Westcotec has given more details of its brand new online management platform that connects the entire Westcotec product range to a secure platform that can be accessed through any web browser.

The platform, known as ‘Westconnect’, can be used for management, maintenance, analysis and data download. It allows clients to access information at any time of day or night. Its reporting function provides at-a-glance data from vehicle speeds, traffic flows, ANPR reads and even flood levels.

It was first announced on the Highways Voices podcast from Highways UK – listen here (23 minutes in).

Westconnect allows clients to check and reset school sign time clocks and reprogram bespoke Variable Message Signs (VMS). Integral to the technology is an open application programming interface (API), which allows clients to transmit and view the data in third party software.

Westconnect can be added to any of Westcotec’s new products and can also be conveniently retrofitted to work with any of its 16,000+ existing signs. The company says in-house development and testing means the technology operates under the highest levels of cyber security. It is also fully compliant with all existing legislation and GDPR.

Westcotect sales director Olly Samways commented: “As well as offering a line-up of top quality technology, we have now simplified the way clients can access the data that’s available to them.

Westconnect works via a subscription model that will save time and money, because there’s no longer a need to go on site to retrieve data from signs, with the platform also being used for an initial hardware review, tailoring maintenance visits.

“This is another exciting and innovative step from Westcotec that further demonstrates our commitment to excellent customer service and to road safety.”
