WSP has published the third article in its ITS-Vision Zero series, which explores how intelligent transport systems can become part of the Vision Zero road safety solution.

The article “Effective Intelligent Systems Integrate Human Factors” by the company’s ITS Head of Profession Ian Patey and Senior Technical Director Lucy Wickham examines how the interdisciplinary human factors specialism contributes to designing safe road systems.

WSP refers to World Health Organisation figures which show more than 1.35 million people die on the world’s roads each year (at time of writing more than those who have died of Covid-19) with another 20 million to 50 million people are seriously injured. More than half of road traffic deaths involve vulnerable road users—pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists.
