North East chilled distribution firm KCL Logistics says it has “revolutionised” its working practices after implementing a new transport management system.
KCL says the new Mandata Go solution will allow the business to continue its success beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
Andrew Dunn, Director at KCL Logistics Ltd, said: “We’ve halved the time we used to spend on invoicing thanks to Mandata Go. Planning has become so much easier, particularly as we have all of the information we need on one screen.
“We’ve also drastically improved customer experience. Now our customers can log into the customer portal to access their ePODs immediately, saving us so much time. Our back-office staff no longer have to wait to receive PODs, and they attach automatically to invoices as they’re emailed out. The whole process is so much quicker.”
The solution has allowed KCL Logistics to automate all areas of its operation. Previously, executives had little visibility of key processes within the business and decisions were routinely made based on assumptions rather than hard facts. The business has migrated its job planning, invoicing, and proof of delivery processes onto one paperless and fully accessible cloud-based software solution.
Now that proof of delivery is seamless, KCL Logistics has been able to protect its revenue by ensuring all completed jobs have PODs and are billed correctly, resulting in the business getting paid much quicker than it previously had. Andrew said: “We’re realising revenue earlier and we’ve sped up our order-to-cash cycle.”
Andrew also added: “Our old system was slow and painful, so moving to Mandata Go has revolutionised the way we work. I can confidently say we’re working a lot more efficiently than we used to.”
Mandata offers haulage and logistics software solutions for a wide variety of haulage operators, from one-vehicle operatives through to those with many hundreds of vehicles on the road at any one time. Road transport operators from all sectors of the industry use Mandata to manage their processes, from order to execution and invoice. The business counts the likes of Skelcher Express and TRS Tyres amongst its customer base.
First established in 2011, KCL Logistics, which is based in Wallsend, specialises in chilled distribution, which includes the transport of wholesale fresh fruit and vegetables. The business aims to continue its growth from its current operating fleet of 15 vehicles and 23 staff, which will now be possible with the Mandata Go system improving process efficiency, job planning, electronic proof of delivery (ePOD), and invoicing.
