The highways and transport solutions provider Clearview Intelligence has improved road safety in the East Riding of Yorkshire with the installation of a series of solar road studs at the entry to a 30mph zone.
The SolarLite studs were installed Keyingham, around 10 miles east of Hull. This initiative is part of East Riding’s ongoing efforts to improve safety at a key point where vehicles enter the 30mph zone with a pedestrian crossing.
The site was chosen because it has experienced a few near misses, especially at night, with motorists struggling to spot the zebra crossing. Although the area is street-lit, East Riding council recognised the need for additional safety measures. To address this, they upgraded the beacons at the crossing and installed SolarLite studs – red studs delineate the nearside kerb edge, while white centreline studs enhance the existing road markings, making the crossing point much more visible to drivers.
Clearview Intelligence has been running working with ADEPT in the Live Labs 2 project with the installation of SolarLite studs in the East Riding of Yorkshire. You can hear more about it on this podcast.
