ITS (UK) announces awards shortlist

Digital road solutions, CAV testing techniques and a fusion of transport modelling with live traffic data to improve air quality are among the shortlists for two of the categories in the prestigious ITS (UK) awards.

A video analytics platform and a bus occupancy data solution are also in the running for the top prizes which will be announced by ITS (UK) President Steve Norris in a ceremony at its Members’ Day at Cubic Transportation Systems’ Salfords facility on 25 November.

The Awards are supported by Cubic, WSP and White Willow Consulting.

The winners of the Rees-Hills Lifetime Achievement Award and Eric Sampson Early Careers winner will also be presented with their trophies at the event, which also features a tour of Cubic’s facility as well as a debate on reducing the environmental effects of transport and a series of short presentations from different members.  There will also be journalists attending for a series of one-to-one interviews with opinion formers.

“We’ve had some really strong entries from Members this year, especially in the Eric Sampson Early Careers category, where people who could well have won in previous years not even making the top three,” commented ITS (UK) Secretary General Jennie Martin.  “Our shortlist for the two technical awards underlines just how innovative our members have been over the past year, and how much of a difference technology is making to transport in the UK.”
