A traffic management update issued by Transport Scotland has flagged up new arrangements for drivers on the Tomatin to Moy section of the A9 as the £3.97 billion dualling programme continues.

From 13-24 July, during daylight hours only, the construction of underpasses at Lynebeg and Tomatin will involve the installation of heavy beams on the new structures, says the Ross-Shire Journal. This will require the use of temporary traffic signals to allow large vehicles to safely access the site while carrying the beams.

A Transport Scotland spokeswoman said:

“Signals will operate on an ‘all red’ phase for up to three minutes at a time, with a maximum of 20 activations per day between 08:00 and 19:00. Staff will be on site to help minimise disruption.

“These short, controlled stoppages are necessary to ensure works can be carried out safely, while keeping any impact on road users and journey times to a minimum.

“We do not expect that these temporary traffic signals will result in significant disruption at either location, due to the timing of the works and their infrequent use.
