Marlborough Highways signs new Highways Works Contract with Newham

Marlborough Highways has announced that it has renewed its established partnership with the London Borough of Newham with the commencement of a new Highways Works Contract commencing this month.

This contract represents a significant expansion of Marlborough’s responsibilities in Newham. In addition to maintaining and enhancing highways, footways and related structures, within the first year of the contract, our teams will deliver the majority of the borough’s public realm improvements on the Public Highway.

Working in partnership with Newham Council and local suppliers, Marlborough will champion greener ways of working, trialling more innovative solutions to reduce emissions and supporting the Council’s long-term sustainability ambitions.

This new agreement also creates meaningful opportunities to invest in the local community. Together with Newham Council, Marlborough will create roles for local people, deliver accessible apprenticeships, engage with schools and colleges across the borough and back initiatives that help inspire future careers in highways and infrastructure.

Reflecting on the news, Matthew Revell, Managing Director of Marlborough Highways said:

“We are proud to strengthen our partnership with Newham Council and build on the trust we’ve earned since 2022.

“Our teams know the borough well, and this contract allows us to take on a wider role in maintaining and improving Newham’s streets and public spaces. From day-to-day maintenance to major schemes, our focus will be on delivering high-quality, reliable services that make a real difference for residents.

“Looking ahead, we are committed to investing in our people, working sustainably and continuing to deliver for the Council with the standards and care Newham have come to expect.”
