Intelligent traffic solutions and technology business, SWARCO UK & Ireland, has launched its next generation traffic controller – the PTC3 Controller series – which it calls a future-ready platform designed to deliver smarter, safer and more efficient traffic network management.  

The company says: “Building on the trusted legacy of SWARCO’s PTC1 Controller, the new PTC3 series, which is fully TOPAS 2500B approved and fully compatible with existing configurations, introduces several new features and enhancements aimed at improving performance, sustainability and resilience for local authorities and operators.”

The company explains PTC3 series is designed to support new adaptive and AI-driven traffic management strategies, such as SWARCO ImFlow and Smart AI, enabling local authorities to use real-time intelligence and data to optimise city-wide traffic flows, rapidly respond to traffic incidents and future proof their networks as mobility needs adapt and change.  

It adds that operational efficiency is at the core of the PTC3’s design. The controller provides direct monitoring of ultra-low power LED units (down to 1W), reducing energy consumption, lowering operating costs and expanding equipment life. While an optional uninterruptible power supply (UPS) ensures continuous network operation – even during power outages – enhancing resilience and reliability for urban mobility infrastructure. The PTC3 series also features SWARCO’s proven ITC-3 hardware platform, already deployed in more than 50 countries worldwide, and enhanced processing power that enables faster analytics and robust support both existing and future technologies as systems expand.

Available in both small and large cabinets, the PTC3 Controller series features the same physical dimensions as the PTC1 series, allowing for seamless product upgrades without the need to replace the Controller plinth, helping to reduce costs and environmental impact.
