Zaptec UK is urging fleet operators and employers to act now to secure UK Government support for depot and workplace charging projects.
With UK Government electric vehicle (EV) charging funding schemes closing to new applications on 31 March 2026, for fleet operators, these represent a critical opportunity to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, while managing costs and operational risk.
Government grants can significantly reduce the upfront cost of depot and workplace charging infrastructure, enabling organisations to move beyond pilot schemes and scale electrification across entire fleets.
Current incentives include the Workplace Charging Scheme and the EV infrastructure grant for staff and fleet vehicles, which together can support chargepoint installation and the underlying electrical infrastructure required for larger fleet deployments.
“Government support for EV charging infrastructure is a major enabler for organisations transitioning to zero-emission fleets,” said Michael Braybrook, Managing Director at Zaptec UK. “With key funding schemes closing on 31 March 2026, there is a narrow window for fleet operators to unlock projects that might otherwise be delayed for years.”
Braybrook added: ‘For fleet operators, these grants can make the difference between a small pilot and a full depot roll-out, particularly where grid upgrades, load balancing and smart energy management are involved.”
The schemes provide up to 75% support towards eligible purchase and installation costs, within defined caps. Applications are completed online via the government portal and typically require confirmation of eligibility, installation plans, and the use of an OZEV-approved installer and hardware provider.
