Location technology specialist TomTom has announced the appointment of Mike Schoofs as Chief Executive Officer and member of the Management Board.
Mike Schoofs (pictured) began his career at KPN-Orange and Samsung before joining TomTom in 2005. Since then, he has held a range of senior commercial leadership roles across multiple regions as well as at the global level.
TomTom says that, over time, he has expanded his responsibilities to include TomTom’s Enterprise business, “further strengthening the company’s commercial footprint”. In 2023, he was appointed Chief Revenue Officer, where he leads TomTom’s global commercial strategy across all business segments.
“Mike brings extensive commercial leadership experience and deep knowledge of TomTom’s business, built over more than two decades with the company,” said Derk Haank, Chairman of TomTom’s Supervisory Board. “We are confident that he is well positioned to lead TomTom in its next phase.”
“I’m excited to lead TomTom at a moment when location intelligence is reaching a decisive turning point, accelerated by AI and the growing need for trusted, real‑world data,” said Mr Schoofs. “I look forward to creating lasting impact for our customers and our partners.”
Alongside his role at TomTom, Mike Schoofs advises several startups across Europe. He is a Belgian national, based in Amsterdam, and holds a degree in business management.
The appointment was approved by shareholders at TomTom’s Annual General Meeting, which also approved the appointment of Harold Goddijn, Co-founder and former CEO, to TomTom’s Supervisory Board, and the appointment of Joep van Beurden and reappointment of Derk Haank as members of the Supervisory Board.
