Moto Hospitality has opened its new ultra-rapid charging hub, Moto CHARGE, at its Exeter site. This launch significantly expands the existing EV infrastructure at the service station, cementing its status as the largest EV charging Mega Hub in the country with 100 ultra-rapid passenger EV charging bays.

The expansion represents a key milestone in Moto’s plan to invest more than £500 million across its nationwide estate, with drivers able to benefit from ultra-rapid charging speeds of up to 400kW, enabling the latest EV models to add up to 100 miles of range in less than 10 minutes, as well as fully accessible bays and seamless multiple payment options.

Strategically located at Junction 30, the Exeter Mega Hub’s capacity has been boosted by the rollout of 24 state-of-the-art Moto CHARGE ultra-rapid EV charging bays. These new additions complement the site’s existing infrastructure, which includes 32 Tesla and 44 GRIDSERVE high-power charging bays, to offer unparalleled capacity at one of the UK’s busiest motorway locations.

Forming part of Moto’s wider ambition to quadruple to more than 4,000 EV charging bays across its network, the expansion aims to eradicate any “charging anxiety” for drivers, by giving motorists the confidence and convenience of finding an available charger when they need it, especially during periods of high seasonal demand.

Ken McMeikan, CEO of Moto Hospitality, said:

“Our vision is to transform the UK’s rest stop experience and one of the many transformations for motorists over the coming years is the transition to electric vehicles and clean energies. The creation of our new Mega Hub at Exeter with 24 Moto CHARGE ultra-rapid EV charging bays is an absolutely huge milestone that will leave motorists in no doubt of Moto’s ambition to provide the EV charging facilities that customers need and deserve.”
