Transport for London (TfL) has announced a temporary ban on vehicles stopping on a major road in Lewisham, south east London. This is to allow gas connection works to proceed on Lee High Road, says News Shopper.
The restrictions will be in place between Lee Church Street and Dacre Park and will take effect from today (Monday 20 July) at 8am and is expected to last until 4.30pm on Thursday 23 July. However, the road could be reopened earlier if the works are completed ahead of schedule. The no-stopping order will be enforced only at times indicated by traffic signs.
TfL has also clarified that the ban can be lifted temporarily at the direction of a police officer or an authorised TfL representative. The gas connection works are part of TfL’s ongoing maintenance and improvement of London’s road network.
The works on Lee High Road are expected to minimise future disruptions and ensure the safety of road users.
TfL Coordination Manager Andrew Ulph said:
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused during these necessary works and appreciate the patience and understanding of local residents and road users.”
Road users are advised to plan their journeys ahead of time and consider alternative routes to avoid potential delays.
TfL has also encouraged the public to provide feedback on the roadworks.
