One of West London’s busiest roads is due to close for almost three months over two phases, and drivers should expect long delays. TfL has issued a couple of suggested diversion routes during the works, and MyLondon has looked at other alternatives with access to Westfield White City likely to be a particular problem as a second set of roadworks ia taking place at the same time.
A section of the A40 Westway will be closed between Sunday 21 July and mid-October 2024 to replace four expansion joints that are a critical part of the structure. The structures that carry the Wood Lane flyover to the Marylebone flyover are 55 years old and reaching the end of their serviceable life, TfL says. The first of the closure’s two stages starts at 10pm on Sunday and runs until August 22, reports MyLondon.
The eastbound slip road from the Westway Roundabout will be closed to all traffic, as will the A3220 West Cross Route southbound between the Westway Roundabout and the Holland Park Roundabout. Drivers will not be able to exit the A40 Westway at the Westway roundabout to join the A3220 West Cross Route travelling southbound.
