As part of its continued commitment to supporting the roads of the future, Associated Asphalt recently delivered an important presentation at the National Highways Operations Commercial Conference.
The session, titled ‘The Art of Asphalt’, was delivered to more than 135 attendees from Commercial Teams across all National Highways Areas, providing a valuable platform to share technical knowledge and strengthen industry engagement as Associated Asphalt continues to strengthen its presence in the sector.
Delivered by Technical Manager Chris Marchesi and Commercial Lead Jennie Nichols, Associated Asphalt presented an overview of the business before moving on to a technical masterclass on asphalt fundamentals. The session covered material selection and advanced laying techniques, with a focus on the Capex and Opex benefits of early decision-making – demonstrating how investing at the right stage drastically reduces long-term maintenance and repair costs.
This was followed by a Q&A session that explored advanced practices, including Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and the company’s recent Southern region Echelon Paving project, before concluding with a networking lunch.
Chris Marchesi, Technical Manager at Associated Asphalt, said:
“The highways sector has shifted. If we are to effectively tackle some of the major challenges facing the future of roadbuilding, such as sustainability, longevity and urban density, we need innovation and novel ways of thinking. That’s where Associated Asphalt sits – offering national capability with the nimbleness and agility to adapt to challenges and deliver change where others cannot.”
Jennie Nichols, Commercial Lead at Associated Asphalt, added:
“It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our expertise at a major industry forum and the response from delegates was exceptional. We look forward to continuing the conversation and building on the growing recognition of Associated Asphalt across the industry.”
