Bus Users UK welcomes new Director for England

Bus Users UK has announce the appointment of the organisation’s new Director for England. Becky Miller, whose role officially starts on Monday 10 November, brings with her a powerful blend of international experience, community engagement and a deep commitment to accessibility and inclusion.

With a background in education, advocacy and stakeholder collaboration, and a Master’s degree in International Relations, Becky Miller has supported people from a range of diverse backgrounds to access life-changing opportunities through study.

Having held senior roles in the education and non-profit sectors in the US and UK, her work has focused on inclusion and safeguarding, and advocating for people often underrepresented in policy and decision making.

This appointment comes at a pivotal time as Bus Users UK marks its 50th Anniversary as the leading voice for bus passengers and a champion of accessible transport. Bringing a global perspective to the organisation, Becky Miller will focus on breaking down barriers to travel, amplifying the voice of passengers and improving transport for everyone.

Speaking about her appointment, the new Director for England said:

“I am excited to be joining Bus Users UK during its 50th year as the organisation continues to promote passenger voices by removing barriers and improving transport accessibility. As an American who has called the UK home for the past 14 years, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the power and potential of public transport to shape lives and connect communities, particularly for people who don’t always have a strong voice in policy decisions.”

Welcoming her to the role, Bus Users UK Chief Executive, Lydia Horbury said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Becky Miller as our new Director for England at such a landmark moment for Bus Users UK. Becky’s career has been dedicated to empowering individuals and communities, which aligns perfectly with our mission to make sustainable transport accessible to everyone. Her international experience, fresh perspective and passion for inclusion will be a tremendous asset as we continue to amplify the voice of bus passengers.

“With our strategic planning currently underway and an exciting new strategy set to launch next year, we’re really looking forward to Becky’s insight and energy helping to shape the next chapter of Bus Users UK.”
