Clearview Intelligence enhances Milton Keynes with new SolarLite Path Studs to support safer, year-round travel

Milton Keynes is set to benefit from a major upgrade to its walking and cycling routes as Clearview Intelligence begins the installation of more than 4,000 SolarLite Path (P) solar-powered studs across the city.

The rollout will take place over the next few months, bringing improved visibility and safety to key sections of the active travel network.

The project is funded through Milton Keynes’ Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), a government-backed programme designed to make public transport more reliable, accessible and inclusive. By improving the lighting along key walking and cycling routes that link to transport hubs, the SolarLite Path studs directly support BSIP’s aim of safe, connected, year-round travel.

Clearview explains that a hallmark of the SolarLite Path product is its sustainability. Operating entirely off-grid, each stud harnesses daylight through its integrated solar panel and automatically illuminates at dusk. With up to 20 nights of stored energy, the studs deliver reliable, long-lasting illumination without the energy consumption or maintenance demands of traditional lighting. The design also supports local biodiversity. Its low-level, directional lighting eliminates upward light spill, helping protect nocturnal wildlife and preserving the natural character of green corridors.

This installation targets around 40 carefully selected locations across Milton Keynes, identified by Milton Keynes Council. These sites have been recognised as areas where enhanced lighting would deliver the greatest benefit, not a blanket rollout across every Redway but a focused investment where it matters most.

Designed specifically for shared-use paths, the SolarLite Path stud provides soft, consistent guidance that helps people feel safer and more confident when travelling in low-light conditions. Milton Keynes’ investment in SolarLite Path studs is described as a significant step towards a transport environment that is safer, greener and smarter all year round.
