Couple fined thousands for breaching London’s ULEZ in camper van

A couple have been fined £24,000 for driving a camper van that they say they didn’t know breached pollution rules into London on multiple occasions.

My London reports 28-year-olds Sasha Ogden and Freddy Mayhew drove in nine times without paying the £100 daily fee for compliant vehicles.

It says the first time the pair were caught by the camera, on 20 April, they were driving Sasha’s possessions from her parents’ home in Jersey to move into their new flat in Twickenham, South West London. Their Nissan NV100, a 2010 diesel, was detected on eight subsequent occasions between April 30 and June 10 on the A316, east of Sunbury-on-Thames.

The report explains that the fines were first discovered when penalty charge notices dated 12 August arrived at Sasha’s family home, where the van was registered.

The report says they plan to appeal.
