The South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) has installed its new digital alert system across for counties. With ambulances responding to thousands of calls every year, the system helps make the roads safer by alerting drivers to ambulances responding to emergencies nearby.
In partnership with ACETECH Global and HAAS Alert, the digital alert system is now installed across SECAmb’s ambulance fleet in Kent, Sussex, Surrey and North Hampshire with alerts delivered using secure technology to drivers through leading navigation apps – Waze, Apple Maps and compatible car navigation systems.
“By letting drivers know if an ambulance is moving through traffic on blue lights or stationary responding to an emergency incident, we can help keep our crews, patients and you as safe on the road as possible,” said a SECAmb spokesperson.
Andy Graham, co-founder of eCall solutions company VESOS, said:
“I’m pleased to see connected vehicles scaling up in the UK, protecting local heroes that I might need one day to help me, something we can show to the public as what ITS does for you, and as a future channel for eCall data into vehicles.”
