Drivers awaiting tickets after being caught by new-tech speed camera

Police in Gloucestershire have tweeted that they’ve carried out speed checks using a new-style camera which means they don’t need to stop the vehicle to issue a ticket.

They used the TruCAM to check speeds on three roads in Stroud, and that seven drivers will be fined for excessive speed.

The TruCAM laser device produced by Lazer Technology is described as a compact hand-held speed detection unit that provides speed and distance detection as well as photo / video recording of the violation.

It records the speed violation and create video and picture-based files.

As the system is hand-held, it has an internal monitor on it, it allows operators to view and apply any violation quickly in the field.
