A hardware-free signal analytics solution, solving traffic jams before they happen by using real-time modelling, and a new connected magnetometer are among eleven innovative traffic management solutions in the running to win a new award at the popular JCT Traffic Signals Symposium in Nottingham next month.
The ITS UK-sponsored “Most Innovative product or Service at the Exhibition” award features these examples from INRIX, PTV Group and Sensys Networks, and is for a groundbreaking new product showcased at exhibition of more than 30 companies which runs alongside the two-day learned programme.
Other contenders are NAL’s Liftlock composite access cover and frame, Messagemaker
Displays’ MS1 Motorway Signal, an integrated AI solution from NOW Wireless,
smartmicro’s COM HUB edge device, SRL’s Remote Manual Operating System, Smart
Signal Control from VivaCity, an IOT project between Norfolk County Council and
Westcotec and Yunex Traffic’s next generation traffic signal Yutraffic Actis.
The entries will be judged during the exhibition on Wednesday 11 September, with the winner announced on Thursday 12. As well as the industry recognition, the winner gets two seats at the ITS UK Awards in November.
The Symposium, now in its 29th year, welcomes Immense and IRSS as its latest exhibitors joining fellow debutants All Traffic Products, OrangeTek and Sensys Networks alongside long-term participants AGD Systems, ARTSM, Austar Lighting Shanghai, Coeval, FLIR Systems, Hydro, INRIX, ITS UK, LCRIG, Messagemaker Displays, NAL, NOW Wireless, PTV, RTEM, Simplifai Systems, Smartmicro UK, SRL, Starling Technologies, SWARCO, Telent Technology Services, Traffic Group Signals, TRL Software, TRP, Vivacity Labs, Westcotec and Yunex Traffic.
As well as the Symposium programme and exhibition, the key networking events have proved very popular this year, with more than 200 people joining traditional Yunex Traffic gala dinner on the Wednesday preceded by the SWARCO Drinks Reception, while the Tuesday night features the welcome barbecue sponsored by Telent and both nights enjoy free refreshments thanks to the support of a consortium of exhibitors who fund the evenings’ drinks; ARTSM, NAL, SRL, SWARCO, and TRP. Wednesday’s lunch and refreshments are sponsored by TRL.
The JCT Traffic Signals Symposium at Nottingham Trent University takes place Wednesday 11 and Thursday 12 September, with the first evening social event and the free MOVA User Group, which has seen more than 80 people sign up, taking place the day before. Hotel rooms for the event are almost sold out, so the organisers urge would-be delegates to book as soon as possible so they can take advantage of preferential rates in Nottingham city centre.
