Essex bus gate gets automated enforcement

Enforcement by camera at a bus gate in the Essex town of Clacton-on-Sea is being introduced after a two week period of issuing warning notices.

The enforcement of the bus gate at Pier Avenue iwas requested by Essex Police on safety grounds due to the number of vehicles contravening the current restriction and causing safety issues at the pedestrian crossing just after the bus gate.

Camera enforcement will begin tomorrow (Friday 8 November) and warning signs have been put up.

The bus gate has been in operation since 2007. Fines of £70 will be issued for those breaking the rules.
