Highways England has launched a new consultation about how to make the A34 west of Oxford safer and more reliable to drive on.
It says it’s in the early stages of the work focussing on better understanding the current demands on the A34 between the M4 and M40, and the opportunities to reduce congestion and improve safety.
The government has Highways England to explore opportunities to reduce congestion on the road, and the immediate focus is to understand how the A34 and the local roads interact so that it can explore potential improvements.
“We are working with stakeholders and key partners so that their knowledge and experience of the A34 can inform our work,” the HE says. “With this information we will identify options for improving the A34 that could make a real difference to people’s lives.”
