Heard takes over as SMMT’s Industry Forum CEO

The consultancy and training arm of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has a new CEO.

Paul Heard will take up the role at the SMMT Industry Forum on the 1 July, replacing Dr Chris Owen. For the last 20 years Hard has been in management and consultancy roles with EV Cargo, QT Consulting, Futaba and Tenneco Automotive.

As car sales for April fell off a cliff due to the lockdown, he’s bullish about the challenge ahead saying, “The Coronavirus pandemic is testing British business at the moment and the need to call on external support to improve competitiveness is as strong as ever. I relish the challenge of helping the many world-class engineering-led industries we have in this country bounce back in the months and years ahead.”

The SMMT Industry Forum says that over the past 20 years it’s delivered more than 400 competitiveness and productivity programmes and trained over 25,000 people.
