Highway Care leading the way in on-site Covid safety plans

Within minutes of the launch of new social distancing and safety solution www.keep2m.co.uk on 20 May, Highway maintenance and safety solution company – Highway Care’s Operations Director, Andrew MacCuish, was in touch with the start-up to make an order for new social distance tags offered on the website.

The tags, new to the UK, offer an audible warning, a vibration and flashing light to alert the wearer and those in close proximity when they are about to breach the 2m working guidelines.

MacCuish explained, “As a company we want to make sure that that Highway Care operatives who are out installing our highway barrier systems at night are given the best possible protection in every aspect of personal safety, whether that be site safety or their own personal health and welfare. When we saw them, we saw the potential and are really keen to try them out.  The fact that these tags can be worn on a lanyard, a belt, or even fixed to a hardhat means they are the least intrusive product we have seen yet.”

The tags themselves can be recharged at the end of each shift.

With further applications such as access control, equipment proximity detection and other reporting applications able to be generated with the system, the construction related industries look set for change.
