Government launches e-scooter consultation

The Government’s asking the public what they think about the idea of allowing e-scooter trials to begin.

The Department for Transport wants to know people’s thoughts about what defines an e-scooter, what its maximum speed and power should be and the range of rules for legal use during trials.

This consultation is part of the ‘Future of transport regulatory review’ for which the DfT is running a call for evidence, which includes seeking evidence on micromobility vehicles (including e-scooters), flexible bus services, and mobility as a service.

People can Respond online. The consultation closes on 2 June.
