Transport industry professionals are being invited to join an important online discussion examining how the sector can strengthen its resilience to the growing risks posed by climate change.
Taking place on Wednesday 2 December, from 2.30pm to 3.30pm, the roundtable discussion, hosted in partnership with Network Rail, will explore the measures already being taken by transport organisations to protect infrastructure and services against climate-related challenges.
The event will consider where further progress is needed and how the sector can better prepare its networks for the impacts of a changing climate.
Contributors will include Professor Phil Blythe CBE FREng CEng FIET FCIHT and internationally recognised climate adaptation expert Dr Tim Fox.
They will share their expertise on the challenges facing transport infrastructure, emerging best practice and the practical steps needed to deliver more resilient transport networks.
The discussion will also consider the wider implications of climate resilience for communities, the economy and the long-term sustainability of transport infrastructure.
With extreme weather and changing climate conditions presenting increasingly significant challenges for transport operators and infrastructure owners, the event offers an opportunity to explore how the industry can work together to develop more resilient networks.
