Red Stag Materials has strengthened its growing portfolio of highways and construction products with the addition of Durakerb, an innovative, lightweight alternative to traditional concrete kerbing.

The move forms part of Aberdeenshire-based Red Stag Materials’ continued expansion, as the company broadens its range of specialist products designed to help contractors, local authorities and infrastructure operators work more efficiently, safely and sustainably. Manufactured using 88% recycled polymer content,

Durakerb offers a modern alternative to conventional concrete kerbs, combining environmental benefits with significant practical advantages for contractors working on highways, infrastructure and civil engineering projects. Weighing up to 90% less than comparable concrete kerbs, the product has the potential to transform traditional kerbing operations by reducing manual handling requirements, improving installation efficiency and helping contractors address some of the industry’s longstanding health and safety challenges. Durakerb has held BBA-HAPAS certification since 2008 and is designed to integrate with established kerbing systems, allowing contractors and designers to introduce the technology into both new construction and maintenance projects without fundamentally changing traditional installation practices.

The range includes a variety of kerb profiles and specialist solutions, offering flexibility across numerous applications, from local road improvements to major infrastructure schemes. Its lightweight construction and recycled content also present opportunities for organisations seeking to reduce the environmental impact of their projects.

Grant Shewan, Managing Director of Red Stag Materials, commented:

“We’re continually looking for products that offer genuine benefits to our customers, whether that’s improving productivity, reducing costs, addressing health and safety challenges or helping the industry become more sustainable.

“Durakerb is a great example of a product that challenges conventional thinking. Kerbing has traditionally relied on heavy concrete products, but there are now alternatives that can offer significant advantages without requiring contractors to completely change how they work.

“We believe there’s considerable potential for Durakerb across the UK highways and infrastructure sectors, particularly as contractors and local authorities face increasing pressure to improve efficiency and demonstrate environmental responsibility.

“Our ambition at Red Stag is to be much more than simply a distributor of construction materials. We want to introduce customers to innovative solutions, help them explore new technologies and ultimately make their projects easier and more commercially successful.”
