Highways England announces contractors who will deliver major concrete road replacement works

Morgan Sindall and John Sisk are among the contractors who will work on Highways England major programme to repair and replace concrete roads across the country.

The two companies will carry out full reconstruction work, which will see them work on a design and build basis demolishing existing pavement and replacing it with new flexible or composite materials.

Elsewhere on the project, VolkerFitzpatrick, Colas, Dyer & Butler and Tarmac will work on the Lifecycle Extension Works. They will deliver specialist repairs to maximise the life of the existing concrete road surfaces of motorways and major A roads, as part of the project.

Earlier this year consultants Aecom and Atkins were appointed to provide design, supervision and project management services on the programme under a framework contract.

Martin Fellows, Highways England Regional Director, said:“This is the biggest concrete road renewals programme we have ever embarked on and we’re pleased to have awarded the final two contracts that will help us deliver the maximum benefits of safe, reliable and smooth journeys for many years to come.”
